Veneers

If you want to be a good candidate for veneers, you should have proper dental hygiene and habits to minimise unwanted tooth decay and gum issues. The use of veneers on teeth that are properly aligned will be more effective and natural-looking.

Veneers are not suitable for everyone. In order to assess whether or not veneers are the best treatment for you, there are a number of factors to consider. If you encounter any of the symptoms indicated below, veneers may not be the best solution for you.

• Problems such as tooth grinding and clenching
• Lack of proper dental hygiene
• Malocclusion or severe crowding (You may need Invisalign before undergoing the veneer procedure.)

• Yellowish or discoloured teeth
• Chipped or damaged teeth
• Misaligned or crooked teeth

• Gaps between teeth
• Misshapen teeth

Composite resin veneers

In order to create composite veneers, a composite resin is used, which is a blend of inorganic and organic components. They blend in quite well with the colour of your natural teeth, although they are susceptible to discoloration with time. When it comes to making them, the bonding substance utilised is the same as that used for tooth-colored dental fillings.

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain is the most aesthetically pleasing and least hazardous material available for dental restorations. It is also the hardest and most long-lasting of all the veneer materials available on the market. Porcelain veneers are extremely biocompatible, which means that they cause little or no injury to the gum tissues or other soft tissues of the mouth when placed. The natural appearance of porcelain allows these veneers to significantly enhance the appearance of your teeth, allowing you to acquire a more attractive smile as a result of their usage.

Lumineers

They are constructed of ultra-thin porcelain laminate material and require the simplest of preparations before being installed. When placing a lumineer over your surface enamel, less natural tooth structure is destroyed than when placing porcelain veneers over the same area of your teeth. Lumineers are a kind of porcelain veneer that is extensively used to treat discoloured and irregularly shaped teeth. They have a silky texture to the touch, which gives them a natural appearance and feel.

Removable veneers

They are also referred to as “snap-on veneers” in certain circles. There are two types of veneers: quick veneers and clip-on veneers that are custom-made for the patient.

Step 1

A tiny portion of tooth enamel is removed in order to create a place for your veneer during the tooth preparation process. To build a mould of your teeth, either a standard putty imprint or an intraoral scanner is used.

Step 2

When choosing a natural colour for your veneers, your dentist will use a shade guide to evaluate your teeth. The imprint, as well as the desired shade, will be sent to a dental laboratory, which will create the custom veneers.

Step 3

Your dentist will build a temporary veneer to provide you with a temporary restoration to wear until your permanent veneers are available. At your next dental appointment, your dentist will fit and modify your veneers until they are in the right position for your smile.

Step 4

Once the veneer has been properly fitted, it becomes securely attached to the front surface of the teeth. Lastly, the excess cement is removed from the area.

Sensitivity of the teeth.

For around 3 weeks after the insertion of veneers, the teeth are vulnerable to sensitivity. If the sensitivity to cold or hot drinks persists for more than 3 to 6 months, it may indicate the presence of a more significant condition.

If a tooth’s nerve was irritated during the treatment, it was possible that there was an infection. If the sensitivity persists for an extended period of time, see your dentist about treatment options.

Tooth Damage.

Damage to the dentin is possible after the implantation of veneers. It is also possible that a badly fitting veneer can cause a patient’s bite to change, which can result in increased tooth sensitivity, bruxism, or jaw discomfort.

Replacement of the veneer in the future. Individuals who have untreated dental disorders prior to the installation of veneers, such as enamel erosion, are more likely to have a failed veneer procedure. When a veneer is damaged or lost, other treatments like dental crowns or cosmetic bonding are usually advised.
