Restore Your Smile in 1 Day With Our Same-Day Crowns

You have a broken tooth, but you can’t get in to see your dentist for another week. You’re afraid of the discomfort and the risk of other dental problems that are still present.
Imagine getting a dental crown in a single appointment that looks and feels just like your natural teeth. The entire process takes less than an hour, so there’s no need to take off work or school.
And since we use digital impressions instead of molds, there is no discomfort involved with taking the impression. Your new custom-made dental crown will fit perfectly on your tooth and feel completely natural when talking or smiling. Hence, a same-day crown can be a convenient option for your affected tooth, especially if you are a busy person.

Same day dental crowns are available at South Lake Smiles! We can create custom-made crowns right here in the office, so you don’t have to wait weeks or months for an appointment.

The Benefits of Same-Day Dental Crown

A dental crown is basically a protective cap that permanently covers your tooth. It’s shaped exactly like your natural tooth, and it restores the strength, function, and appearance of a damaged tooth. Traditionally, getting a crown means squeezing two dental appointments into your busy schedule. With the help of advanced technology, you can now go home with your new crown on the same day.
Same-day dental crowns provide various advantages that you may want to consider for your broken or damaged tooth!

1.) Natural-looking and highly precise

The new technique that allows same-day crown creation also results in a more realistic crown. The CAD (Computer-Aided Desig) or CAM technique can capture even the smallest fissures and form variations in teeth. A physical impression can only provide a basic measurement of the tooth in order to generate a mould from which the traditional crown is manufactured. Using a computerized system provides for a more secure fit as well as a more genuine appearance and feel.

2.) Quick process

Traditional crowns usually take a few weeks to create, which means another appointment with your dentist is necessary for the placement. Same-day dental crowns allow you to walk out of the dental office with a permanent crown in just one appointment.

3.) A cost-effective solution

Though traditional and same-day crowns are nearly the same price, same-day crowns are less expensive in the long run. Same-day crowns eliminate the need for the patient to pay for a temporary crown as well as an additional appointment to get the permanent crown. Furthermore, because these crowns fit better, they will last longer than conventional crowns.

4.) They are more comfortable

Same-day crowns provide a more tight fit. Not to mention, same-day crowns do not require temporary crowns before the final crown placement. Placing and removing temporary crowns can be a painful process that may increase sensitivity in the treated tooth.

5.) Non-invasive procedure

Unlike other dental restorations that may require minor surgeries or multiple stages to be completed, same-day crowns are much simpler and use more advanced technology.

We perform a conservative approach, aiming to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible. If a cavity is too extensive to be repaired with a filling, a dental crown will be recommended instead.

6.) Durable

As long as you maintain good oral health, a CEREC crown can last up to fifteen years. This means you’ll have to practise brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing once a day. If the dentist notices plaque buildup during your next dental cleaning appointment, we may recommend that you use a fluoride mouthwash.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Crowns

Most tooth restorations require healthy gums to have a successful treatment. You may be a good candidate if you have:

  • Having a tooth that is cracked, broken, or severely worn.
  • If your teeth are discolored.
  • If you have misshapen teeth/teeth.
  • Need to cover or cap a root canal treated teeth or a dental implant.
  • Severe tooth decay.
  • A tooth that has significant dental work that can no longer support a filling.

These problems can be addressed by both same-day crowns and traditional crowns. A standard crown, on the other hand, may be preferable if you have a fracture below your gum line or if you suffer from teeth grinding.

You will need to come to the dental clinic only once to receive your new crown. They are created during your first appointment or single visit. all you have to do is wait while the dentist makes the crown.

Prepare your teeth. Preparation of the tooth is the first step in the operation. The decayed areas of the tooth are removed, and it is shaped to fit the crown.

Taking impression. Same-day CEREC crowns are created using digital impressions taken by dentists. Dentists take three-dimensional images of the tooth using a small camera. This is far more pleasant than typical sensations.

Creating the crown Your dentist will use the precise measurements and information from the digital images to send to the equipment that will actually build the crown. They will construct and design your crown model using CAD/CAM software. This process will only take a short period of time. Milling equipment are available in the offices of dentists that provide the same-day CEREC crown treatment. These devices make dental crowns out of ceramic blocks. Milling takes about 15 minutes on average. The milling process is quick, but it is also precise.

Crown placement. The dentist will polish the crown. To verify that the crown matches the existing teeth, it is compared to them. The dentist then inspects the fit and secures the crown in place. The dentist gives the patient aftercare advice.

Same-day crowns are constructed of durable and strong dental porcelain that can last for more than a decade (ten to fifteen years) if cared for properly. Having a good oral hygiene is always necessary for your tooth replacement and oral health.

You can resume your regular diet after a same-day crown, but avoid extremely hot or cold foods and beverages while the pain and sensitivity remain. Extreme temperatures can irritate teeth that are already sensitive. You should also avoid sticky or hard foods for the first twenty-four hours.

Although your crown is “artificial,” the tooth beneath it still requires regular oral care to be healthy and strong. Even if the crown covers the entire tooth surface, brushing the crown carefully is still necessary to eliminate sticky plaque film and keep the crown looking its best. You can ask the dentist about recommended products and advise how to maintain your oral health.

The cost of same-day crowns will be based on the materials used to create the crown and the location of the dental office. During your appointment, we can discuss the entire procedure, payment plan options, and the estimated average cost of the treatment.

There are various alternatives to same-day dental crowns; your treatment will depend on your preferences, lifestyle, and tooth condition. The dentist will help you decide which treatment plan will work best for you.
